Agriculture of the republic
Agriculture is a priority line of economic development. The greatest unit weight in plant growing cereals and vegetables - industrial crops.
The cattle-breeding, sheep-breeding, industrial poultry farming and pedigree horse breeding are developed.
Maykop experimental station of the All-Russia institute of plant growing in the name of N.I.Vavilov has been existed more than 60 years. New grades and hybrids of fruits and vegetables are raised there. The station has one of the greatest in the world collections of fruit crops.
The production volume of an agricultural products manufactured by all agricultural producers during January-June 2007 has made up 1485,0 million roubles or 112,3% to a level of 2006. Prediction activities are executed by 113,8%. The expansion of cattle-breeding output extensively affected the increase of gross output volume.
By farm production index the republic takes the second place among the subjects of SFD, moving up from the third according 2006 year.
Agricultural commodity producers have been collaborating with banks of commerce for the second year within the bounds of realization of national project "The agroindustrial complex development". During six months of the current year the credits have been given to the sum of 144,5 million roubles: 56 million roubles got farms, 82,6 million roubles got citizen with personal subsidiary plot, and 5,9 million roubles got farming consumers co-operatives.
Agriculture has undergone changes concerning the methods of management, industrial engineering and priority right.
More than 4,500 families are engaged in gardening on the area of about 2700 ha, 28,0 thousand families are engaged in kitchen gardening on the area of about 3000 ha, 53,0 thousand people became the land shareholders.
During the last 10 years 2,660 thousand tons of grain were produced in the republic.
The highest total yield of grain in 1991 was 372,8 thousand tons and the lowest one in 1998 was 148,5 thousand tons. The highest crop capacity of 31,1 cwt/ha was achieved in the republic in 1991 and the lowest one of 18,5 cwt/ha in 1998.
In the structure of different types of farms the main grain producers were those who gave from 83% in 2000 to 94% during 1991-95 years period [annual average]. Farms are increasing output but their share in the total output composed only 14% in 2000.
Increase in grain production testifies to the economic progress in agrarian sector. The comparative analyses with other regions of Russian Federation confirm the stability of the republic in the production of grain, the main agrarian culture. By total yield of grain and leguminous plants [by weight after finishing) the republic was the 53rd in 1991 and the 39th in 1999. By grain crop capacity it was the 4th in Russian Federation in 1991 and the 3rd in 1999.
The measures applied [better supplies of forage, support of pure strain stock-breeding, subsidies into beet production] encouraged the growth of livestock farming. In 2000 there was market tendencies directed to the increase in beet and milk production. Against of 1999 the growth of meat and milk production was 3% and 6%, respectively.
By the growth target (% in 2000 against of 1999) of meat production Adygeya is the 25th in Russian Federation and the 4th in the Southern Federation Area. By growth target of milk production the values are higher - the 13th in Russian Federation and the 3rd in the Southern Federal Area.
The total agricultural yield in 2000 within money equivalent accounted for 2446,7 million roubles. At that the meat production increase by 4,8% against of 1999 and plant-growing production decreased by 2,9%. The production on subsidiary and private farms increased 3,9% and 4,5%, respectively. The losses of agricultural enterprises in the republic as a whole decreased from 111,8 million roubles in 1996 to 7,9 million roubles in 1999.
